Un bricolage facile pour le printemps

Happy Spring!

If you follow me on Instagram, you may have noticed over the years that I LOVE spring art projects!

Last year, all the students at my school performed a spring concert near the end of the year, and we needed some decorations! I left it a little bit last minute, so I needed to come up with something quick and easy... and I wanted something that would use up some of the odds and ends left from other projects and activities.

So, we made these adorable spring birds using paper plates!

(Side note - these would work well for just about any season - just use fall colours in the fall (or black for crows!) and red in the winter for cardinals.)

Here's how to make them:

MATERIALS:
- paper plates
- liquid paint
- a hair dryer
- googly eyes
- feathers
- construction paper
- any other sequins or decorations that you like!

HOW TO:
1. Paint! Each student chose a spring-y colour, and I squirted the paint directly onto the plates. They spread it out to cover the whole thing using a paint brush. Easy!

2. Dry - some of them painted thicker than others, and required a hair dryer to make this a one-day activity. If you have time to let them dry overnight, you could skip the hair dryer!

3. Cut & choose - students can use scraps of construction paper to cut out a beak and strips for a tail, and choose 6-8 feathers (I got mine from the dollar store).

4. Fold & glue (or staple!) - fold the plates in half, and decorate the birds using feathers, googly eyes, and the cut paper. We used hot glue because we were out of white glue, but I think white glue would work, too. You could also staple the feathers down to make sure they stay.

There you have it - simple and cute! And perfect for spring :)
